Design satirical parade floats for an annual carnival in the French Riviera’s most important city? Was this a dream or a joke?
It might have been a dream, but it was also very real. From 2006 to 2021 I had the opportunity to design thirty-one parade floats for the Carnaval de Nice. The drawings were selected in an annual contest, and local artists would sculpt and create these massive floats using the drawing as inspiration. Somehow, I still don’t speak French.

Illustrated books for lovers of wine, birds, history, and poorly behaved corks.
You might know barrels about wine, but do you know anything about the humble cork? When you're at an event and the subject arises, do you find yourself at an uncomfortable loss for words? It's a common problem.
Thankfully, Notorious Corks is all you need to inform yourself on this underrated topic. This compact compendium is a rogue's gallery of history's most badly behaved bottle stoppers and takes a deep dive into the little movers and shakers the mainstream world of wine has overlooked.
If you love wine, history, or corks, this is the book you want gracefully displayed on your coffee table or bookshelf. And for the casual reader, consider this book your gateway drug to sink deeper into the mysterious world of wine and its fascinating corks.
Knowledge is power. Order a copy and educate yourself on the world's most iconic stoppers.
And the next time the awkward subject of corks pops up, your in-depth knowledge will have your friends spitting out their syrah in awe.
Have you heard of the legendary Parisian food critic whose heart exploded? You probably didn't. Because he was a pigeon.
Or how about Louise, the famous dancer from Dubuque, whose neck snapped after her scarf was tangled in spokes of a speeding Buggati? Likely not. Because she was a Hookbill.
Birds have been largely ignored in the history books. And one of the golden eras for birds was in Paris during The Belle Epoque.
This collection spotlights those feathered artists, writers, and fellow eccentrics who made Paris their nest from 1890-1914.
From the seedy brothels and absinthe houses to the fine restaurants and cabarets, you will get to know the birds of this golden era. If you like Paris, birds, or history, you will enjoy this book. But if you happen to be a serious birdwatcher, take the content with a grain of birdseed and absinthe.
